FAQ
What makes TOV Home different?
TOV Home is committed to providing a premium brand experience with clean products at accessible price points. We believe in attainable luxury--everyone should have the opportunity to bring goods into their home that take their space from merely functional, to delightful.
What ingredients do you use?
We’ve opted to use vegetable based wax, avoiding potential health risks associated with other waxes. We currently use a blend of one hundred percent soy and coconut waxes and certified clean fragrance oils that are phthalate and paraben-free. Our candles use lead-free wicks. The candles are safe for use around pets, kids, and other groups that may otherwise be sensitive to fragrance.
How do you care for TOV Home candles?
For the best burn experience, TOV Home recommends trimming your wick before you first light it down to a quarter inch. The first light should run at least an hour to burn evenly across the top and produce the best fragrance throw. Always trim your wick before subsequent burns to prevent soot and smoke. To preserve the fragrance of your candle, place the candle back in packaging until next use.
Can the jars be reused or recycled?
Yes, our jars can be recycled and reused! When your candle is down to less than a quarter inch of wax, it’s done its job as a candle and it’s time to reuse that vessel! Simply place your jar in the freezer overnight, allowing the wax to shrink and separate from the jar, and in the morning scoop the remaining wax and wick out of the jar with a spoon. Another great alternative would be to place your jar in a double boiler to melt the remaining wax and scoop it out of the jar.
What is TOV Home's return policy?
If you would like to return your unused candle(s), you may do so within 30 days for a full refund, excluding shipping costs.
What are the benefits of soy and coconut wax?
- Reduced Soot and Toxins: Paraffin wax, derived from petroleum, has been known to irritate those with vulnerable respiratory systems. Soy and coconut waxes burn cleaner than paraffin wax, releasing minimal toxins into the air. This means less irritation for your lungs and a cleaner overall burn. Coconut and soy waxes also produce far less soot and smoke when burning.
- Longer Lasting: Soy and coconut waxes typically burn cooler than paraffin wax. The soy-coconut wax blend in our candles allow them to last longer and allow you to enjoy the fragrance for a greater period.
- Renewable Resource: Soybeans, the source of soy wax, are a readily renewable resource. Coconut wax is produced directly from coconuts which are a renewable and high-yield crop. This makes them a more eco-friendly choice compared to paraffin wax, derived from petroleum.
- Biodegradable: Soy and coconut wax are both biodegradable, meaning it breaks down naturally after disposal.
- Fragrance: Soy and coconut waxes often retain fragrance extremely well, allowing you to enjoy a strong and pleasant scent throw throughout the life of the candle.
What are the benefits of a cotton wick?
- Clean Burn: Cotton wicks are naturally derived and burn cleaner than synthetic wicks, further contributing to a clean burning experience.
What are the benefits of a paraben and phthalate-free candle?
- Reduced Irritation: Parabens and phthalates are sometimes linked to skin irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin. Parabens in particular have more recently been linked to endocrine disruption. Avoiding them can potentially lead to a gentler experience when using the product.
